Eden Holistic Pet Foods

Lily enjoying the medium sized kibble.
As a dog owner, I only want the best for my dogs and I truly believe Eden Holistic is one of the best pet foods out on the market.
I am a firm believer in feeding a dog as natural as possible, I often feed a mix of Eden and raw but for many people raw feeding is scary so they wont do that and would prefer to stick to a complete kibble for convenience which is completely understandable.

You only need to check out
www.whichdogfood.co.uk to see that Eden is an extremely highly rated food, it was the first UK dried pet food to get 5 out of 5 stars. For those of you who are unaware of what it in your pets food I suggest that you type your dogs current food into the search bar on whichdogfood and you will be able to see what rating it has and what ingredients are in the food itself.

Eden isnt the cheapest of foods out on the market BUT for it is afforable and most definitely worth the price considering the quality of the food.
The kibble itself comes in two different sizes so it will suit all sizes of dogs, from a chihuahua puppy to a great dane.
One of the best things is
that the prices are the exact same whether you choose to pick the small kibble or the medium kibble.
Medium sized kibble on the left. Small sized kibble on the right.

Soopa pets treat review.

 -

When I was contacted by Barbera Hanly from Soopa pets I was very excited to try out these treats.
I'm very particular what I feed the dogs because I like to go as natural as possible and treats filled with sugars and all other rubbish makes Lily's itchy sking flare up and usually give Bobby the dreaded 'runs'.

These treats are 100% natural. They come in papaya & sweet potato!
They are low calorie, hypoallergenic, rich in anti oxidants & minerals and they keep teeth healthy and clean! What more could you want??

Reasons your dog will LOVE Soopa treats.
(Here is a little bit from the website)
For more details head over to www.soopapets.com
Soopa believe simple is better, that’s why our 100% natural dog chews are carefully handmade using only fresh picked produce straight from the farm. No additives or preservatives, just 100% fruit and vegetable.Chewy, juicy and super nutritious, soopa dog chews are so good you’ll be tempted to paw them for yourself!
Rich in vitamins, minerals & anti-oxidants: And naturally so, no added vitamin supplements as nature's way is always best.
Low calorie: Soopa chews are low calorie, great for overweight, less active, senior dogs or generally health conscious dogs.
100% Natural: Nothing is added to our chews, no sugar, salt, colours, preservatives, additives or any other bad stuff. Just the delicious natural flavours of fruit & vegetable with a bit of sunshine added!
Healthy Teeth & Gums:The chewy rigid texture helps keep teeth and gums healthy & clean
More reasons your pooch will love soopa chews:
Hypoallergenic & an excellent source of dietary fibre. Wheat and grain free.
Suitable for dogs with diabetes, allergies and sensitive tummies.
A natural chewy treat that tastes as good as it smells! (Hurrah! no more stinky bottoms)
Naturally bursting with fido nutrients, vitamins, minerals and disease fighting anti-oxidants.
Bobby eating a papaya treat.

I can safely say that this treat gets 12 paws up from all 3 dogs. They absolutely LOVED them.

Low cost homemade dog cookies.

Ingredients:
Liver.
Flour (plain-wheat free)
Oil
Baking-powder

Chop the liver into small pieces. 200g / 7oz, this helps to deal with "stringy" bits.
Blend with the oil. 25g / 1oz, and by "blend" I mean to use power-driven metal blades, to liquidse the lumps.
Add 2tsps of baking powder to 150g / 51/4oz plain flour.
Mix the flour & baking powder into the homogenised liver and oil, until you have a thick and sticky pink dough.
Turn the dough onto a floured-surface and roll / stretch into a sheet.
Cut into strips.
*Note this will be soft, and sticky - use plenty of flour.

Place the dough pieces on a baking-tray, lined with grease-proof paper (it can be sticky).
For long-life, biscuits need to be dried-out, cook slowly and gently.

60 min at 150oC / 300oF turning once after 30 min, and then turn the oven off leaving the biscuits in the oven with the door ajar as it cools.

They should turn out light and crunchy, tasting and smelling like cooked-liver.

You can cut the dough into any shapes or use any types of cookie cutters.

Ive been trying to find a bone shaped cookie cutter for a long time now but have yet to find one over in the UK.

KONG filler.

I found this great 'recipe' for a KONG filling.

Ingredients:
1 can of pumpkin
3/4 cup of peanut butter
1/2 cup of flax seed
1/2 cup of flaked oats

All you simple need to do it throw all ingredients into a bowl and mix it up!
You will then need to put the mixture into any type of mold (maybe an ice cube tray or chocolate mold) and then simply pop it in the freezer for an hour or more and then you can use them when needed.

As I am from the UK and this recipe is from an American person, I wasnt sure about where to get the can of pumpkin, but i found some online here:

These things are a god send, they help calm situations, keep their brain going AND best of all, the dogs get a treat!!!

Something to stuff the KONG with.
R.R.P: £2.00

Of course you can use what you like but I like these and so do the rest of the gang.
You get a pack of 4 for £2, isn't that fab? They're a good size too.
Tip with a kong: Depending on what size you get, you can do alternative layers!
I like to put some cheese at the bottom, hotdogs, a James Wellbeloved (JWB) mini jack on top, or some of their JWB kibble.

http://www.companyofanimals.co.uk/products/toys-and-games/nina-ottosson-games/nina-ottosson-treat-maze

 Nina Ottosson Dog treat Maze.
R.R.P:£12.99
A Treat Maze for your dog”  Amuses, entertains and activates.
Put treats in the hole at the top on both sides of the Dog Treat Maze.
The dog has to work to get the Dog Treat Maze in motion so that it wobbles, rocks and sometimes spins around, so that the treats pass through a maze inside on both sides and then fall out through the openings on both top and bottom.
Dog Treat Maze is a treat maze that activates and entertains your dog. The unpredictable movement keeps the toy challenging.
Can be used inside or outside.
Dog Treat Maze is easy to clean, rinse with running water.
Tips….
Make it more difficult for the dog to get the treats out by putting a piece of a paper towel in one of the holes of both the top and bottom, so that the treats can only come out of one hole per side.…

My Christmas survival tips:

If you're anything like me, then you always want to make sure your dog or dogs are always happy.

9/10 I am awake early on Christmas day ( I am worse than a child, I woke my 4 year old sister up last year at 5am, YES, on purpose[I get WAY too excited])
.

  • Get dressed into some comfy warm clothes, throw on some wellies and take your dog out for an early morning run/walk so they get to relieve some energy before all of the mayhem starts!
  • Make sure the situation doesn't get too stressful for your pet
(If you have a big family, or lots of new people etc)
Make sure your pet has a safe spot, such as his own enclosed space (Crate, a room, a bed in a different room or even a bed out of the way where all of the mayhem happens)
  • ALWAYS supply LOTS&LOTS of fresh drinking water after you feed them their yummy Christmas Dinner.
  • Oh, and If possible, lock them out of the kitchen so they don't get burnt, trod on and something dropped on them while you or someone else, whoever else, cooks the yummy Christmas dinner!
(They won't be able to steal then either. HA HA HA)
